Tuesday September 7th: Join Aaron for wine tasting 6-7pm. A great tasting last week big crowd and lots of fun!! This week we’ll keep the fun going with Cheesecake Factory Cheesecakes mixed with Creamy Whites and fruity reds!!! The wines this week are the McNab Ridge Tine’s White, the Chateau Ste. Michelle Dry Riesling, La Crema Sonoma Chard, as well as the Michele Chiarlo Barbera D’Asti!!! The “Brown Bagger” will make its usual appearance to test your palate!! See you at the table!!!
Saturday September 4th: Labor Day weekend is upon us. Time to stop and consider all the effort it takes to bring good wines to the table. Today we’ll peruse four different wines, each one facing a unique set of challenges to get to our shelves. First up, Bortolotti’s Lagrein sparkling rosé from Italy-Marc deGrazia (the importer) had to convince people to buy a grape no one ’s heard of!! Next, Laurel Glen’s REDS, a wine made to celebrate the Workers of the World (Comrade!). Michael-David’s 6th Sense Syrah, from Lodi, required the cooperation of the weather AND Michael’s son, Kevin, now vineyard manager and sixth generation wine producer (kids are notoriously difficult to work with). Lastly, something unusual from Spain: Emilio Lustau’s East India Solera Sherry, a style recreating conditions first discovered by accident over 400 years ago. Come join the peoples’ party, and toast to hard-working individuals!
Sunday September 5th: There aren’t many more intensive ways to produce wine than organically. With that in mind, we’ll be looking at one of the most committed Northern Californian organic wineries, Lolonis. Over 20 years of certified organic growing proves these people know what they’re doing! First up, the Fumé Blanc, mostly tank fermented, with a small portion done in barrel to provide a rich, round counter to the fresh fruit entrance in the mouth. Second on the table, the Chardonnay uses French barrels and malolactic fermentation to give a full-bodied, luscious feel in your mouth. Lolonis is known for great reds, as well, and their Cabernet Sauvignon is drinking at its peak now. Last on the table, a delicious red Zinfandel with tons of fruit and spices. The vineyards required work throughout the growing season, from canopy thinning (pulling leaves to allow more sun and wind exposure), all the way to hand harvesting. There’s nothing harder than harvest. Come celebrate other peoples’ work and enjoy the fruits of their labor. See you at the table.
